UTTERMOST

“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

Jesus in acts 1:8

Uttermost means extreme. Jesus told us to go there, to the extreme places of earth, and to preach the gospel. Yes, there are people all around us who need Christ. Yes, there are even people from far away lands living among us. No doubt about it, we have an amazing opportunity to reach these people with the gospel.

He told us to go

However, it cannot be denied that we have a mandate to go. It is more than a mandate, it is a prophesy. Jesus said that we would be witnesses to the uttermost part of the earth. That’s extreme.

I have read stories about amazing missionaries. Men like David Livingstone in Africa, and women like Lottie Moon in China, are examples of extreme mission evangelists. They carried the gospel to extreme places—to the uttermost part of the earth.

My ministry is simple. So, I go to far away places to find the loneliest, most isolated people I can find, open my Bible and tell them about Christ. Am I concerned that my ministry, Extreme Mission Evangelism, will never becoming a huge endeavor? Not really.

So, I Went

I seriously doubt very many will remember me much after my death. But here’s an amazing thought: I have fulfilled prophesy. Jesus predicted His followers would be a witness to the uttermost part of the earth. Guess what…I have done it. By His grace, I have gone to some remote places on earth. I have gone to the uttermost and have been Christ’s witness.

And, I’ll Keep On Going

As long as He gives me life, I'll keep on going
I'll keep on asking,
I'll keep on knocking,
I'll keep on seeking souls in the uttermost.

As He supplies the strength

I'll take another breath,
I'll take another step,
I'll keep on keeping on for His glory.

Though the world forsake, I'll keep on going.
Though friends and family forsake me, I'll keep on going.
Though money, and health, and confidence is gone,
I will keep on leaning on the mercy of Christ

I am a sinner saved by His grace.
I am a rough-cut timber being finished by His love.
I am a not-so-noble and a not-so-wise human Jesus somehow still cares for.
And, I am a slave to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

I will tell others about Him until the day I die.

As long as God allows me, I will go. I will be His witness to the uttermost part of the earth. To me, this is the greatest and most extreme calling of all.
