Is it right? Some have celebrated the risen Christ for many years while others don’t even know He is risen.
It is wonderful to be able to celebrate the risen Christ! HE IS RISEN. HE IS RISEN INDEED!
But what if you had a cure for cancer? How long would you celebrate? Your celebration would most likely be replaced with resolve to get the cure to those who need it most. To take the analogy further, if there were places that made the cure illegal, those with the cure would somehow find a way to get the medicine to those in need, even if it meant great risk.
I am thankful there ARE people with this mindset for the gospel. This is the Extreme Mission Evangelism Mindset.
Like Barnabas and Paul, they were,
“Men that have hazarded their lives
for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Acts 15:26
Is it right? Some have heard the gospel hundreds of times while others never have.
As pastor for a medium-sized church, I present the gospel publicly in our church services about three times per week. The vast, vast majority of the people who attend our services have heard the gospel presented to them hundreds and hundreds of times over the years. If someone comes to all three services during the week, they will have heard a gospel invitation 156 times. What do you think of this quote by Oswald J. Smith?
“No one has the right
to hear the gospel twice,
while there remains someone
who has not heard it once.”
It’s hard to imagine, but there are BILLIONS ALIVE that have
- NEVER experienced joy that comes from knowing Jesus
- NEVER held a Bible
- NEVER considered Christ.
- NEVER known peace that passes all understanding.
- NEVER had the comfort of the Holy Spirit.
- NEVER known the Truth of Jesus.
- NEVER known the love of God.
- NEVER known the kind of home Jesus builds.
- NEVER sung praises to Christ
- NEVER felt the holy burden of knowing they must do what they can to get the blessed gospel to others around the world.
This season, it is good for us to remember the EXTREME trouble that Jesus went through to get His Good News to us. Amen?
For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying,
I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles,
that thou shouldest be for salvation
unto the ends of the earth.
-Acts 13:47
