3 Things You Can Do To Be Bold for Christ
Punch Fear, Kill Complacency
Fear and complacency are two big problems for humans. We don’t do what we should because we are either scared or lazy. We cannot bold for Christ whenever we are fearful or complacent.
One time I was talking to my friend about complacency. Without realizing it, he nodded his head while he yawned in agreement! Another time I heard a preacher sarcastically say, “Complacency is one of the biggest problems in Christendom, but who cares?”
If complacency is one of our biggest problems, another big one is fear. Why is fear a problem? Look at the shocking first word of this list:
Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
And we all know how much Jesus likes His followers to be complacent and lukewarm. “So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.” (Revelation 3:16)
3 Things You Can Do To Combat Fear and Complacency

- Search God’s Word for what you need. For example, find some great verses on boldness, strength, and courage. Such as:
- 2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

- Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
- Select the ones that really speak to your heart. Here is one of my favorite verses that shrink my fear and kill my complacency for Christ.
- Isaiah 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.
- Read them again and again. Feel the fear in your being shrink to nothing. Notice the complacency drain out of your soul.

- John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
- This is vital. You must be able to call upon God’s Word at any time and have the complete and exact verse come into your mind. God’s Word is His Spirit. To be full of His Spirit, one must be full of His Word. Jesus said,
- Ask God for help (pray) and then act on His Word. This is the very essence of faith. Any action of true faith punches fear in the face and kills complacency.

Not only that, there are untold numbers of believers unwittingly looking for a bold Christian example to wake them and shake them out of their complacency for the glory of God.
