“Could you send us your Missionary Packet?”
That’s what the church secretary usually asks for, a packet. So, what in the world is a missionary packet?
In order to present our ministry to churches, we usually begin the process by sending the church and pastor an introductory email. This email is brief, and to the point. It contains all of our contact information, and an explanation of our ministry. The last thing a busy pastor needs is a deluge of information.
Obviously, pastors want to know as much about a missionary as possible before they consider supporting them. They want to know who the missionary is and where they are from. They want to know about his or her associations. They want to know if the missionary has a successful track record, spiritually speaking. Are they fruitful, knowledgeable, well-spoken, and able to communicate the gospel effectively?
What kind of missionary are they? There are church planters, school teachers, and all kinds of ministries that receive support from local churches. This is why when a missionary calls a church, the secretary will usually ask for a packet.
