Follow only Christ until success. That’s what this post is about. It’s about never giving up. It’s about no excuses and not quitting. Encourage yourself in the Lord until you close your eyes in death—or until He returns.

Its About Never Giving Up

Maybe you think of Winston Churchill’s quote:

“…this is the lesson: never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never-in nothing, great or small, large or petty – never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense.”

—Winston Churchill

Better than Churchill is the Jesus Christ. His pursuit of His Father’s will to get to the cross is the ultimate example in not quitting.

“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

 —Hebrews 12:2

Its About No Excuses

I can’t. I don’t know how. I don’t have time. I’m all alone. I’m afraid. I can’t afford it. I won’t. These are 7 excuses Ron Edmondson lists on his recent blog post.

That’s a good start. Consider these excuses: I’m too old. I don’t have experience. My family situation won’t allow me. My spouse would never allow it. It’s too hard. I would embarrass myself. What would others say. I’m not qualified. I feel like an imposter. Etcetera, etcetera, etc.

Real living is going forward even when some of your excuses are true. Maybe you are not qualified, but you don’t have to quit. That’s your decision. Maybe you are “too” old, or “too” young, or “too” whatever. It is still your decision to quit, or to go on.

It’s About Not Quitting

They say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. I’m not so sure about that definition. That has to be taken in light of persistence. Walking a few times around the block may not seem to have any health benefits. Someone may invoke that definition of insanity and quit because they have not seen any results after a week, or even a month.

But another person who keeps on walking for a year gets fit. Her friends see her and say, “wow!” what did you do to get in such great shape. They think she is an overnight success.

It’s About Saying, “I Will Follow Christ.”

I will follow Christ, though I am old and grey.
I will follow Christ, I will find a way.
I will follow Christ, though I am weak and frail.
I will follow Christ, thought I often fail.

Who else could I follow? He has the words of life.
To whom else could I go? He restores my soul.
Who else gives such wisdom, peace, and love?
He alone is my passion, purpose and goal.

Will I fail Him? Of course.
Will I fall short? No doubt.
Am I worthy of His mercy? No way.
Do I intend on following Him. Forever.

I will follow Christ, though I am old and grey.
I will follow Christ, I will find a way.
I will follow Christ, though I am weak and frail.
I will follow Christ, thought I often fail.

“…be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.”
